Shirley Temple is a non alcoholic layered drink, traditionally made with Ginger Ale, a splash of Grenadine  and orange juice, garnished with a Maraschino cherry.

Modern Shirley Temple recipes have substituted ginger ale with lime or lemon flavoured soda like 7 Up or Sprite.

Shirley Temples are often served to children’s dining with adults instead of real cocktails. This was my favorite drink as a kid when we used to go for dining in five-star restaurants and used to get awed how they create the layers in the drink..

This cocktail may have been invented by a bartender at Chasen’s a restaurant in Beverly hills, California to serve the child actress Shirley temple, thus the drink got its name after her.
