Making imli ki khatti mithi goli with my son was a great way to reliving my own childhood memories. This recipe was originally taught by my daddy dearest to me when I was a little girl. However busy he was in his work, he used to take time for us and spend quality time with us if not quantity. When we were young, life was different. We didn’t have malls or any fancy places to enjoy our weekend as the kids do nowadays, which I feel is all a waste. I always liked to spend time with my daddy learning something new from him whenever I got a chance. He was a multi talented person and a very good cook. He is the one who taught me cooking skills and eventually I fell in love with cooking and it became a passion for me.

This particular recipe is very near to my heart as we both used to make this chatpati imli ki goli and enjoy — with both father and daughter bonding so much. I remember that my mom used to very affectionately scold us for making this golis and at the same time enjoy seeing father and daughter bond so well. Yeah, Yeah, I was a daddy’s girl and I must admit he brought me up as a princess and pampered me a lot. I always looked up to him as my Superman. Missing you Superman. You will always be there in my heart forever. Hope I can be a good parent to my son as my parents were to me. Till then Do try these yummy imli ki golis with your kids and enjoy the bonding.

  2. Now, put the tamarind in a food processor or a mixer grinder and break it to make it soft and pulpy.
  3. Add grated jaggery in it and grind again.
  4. When mixed properly take it out in a bowl add the roasted cumin powder, jaggery powder, chilly powder and black salt, hing is optional as I don’t like it I didn’t add it. But hing is good for digestion, if you like you can add it.
  5. Knead the mixture into a soft dough without any water. If at any point you think that the mixture is very hard to handle warm it in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds and then again knead well.
  6. Make small balls of the mixture and roll in powdered sugar so that they wont stick to each other while storing, make all the golis out of the mixture and store in an airtight jar and enjoy.
