This recipe was  created when I was baking a savoury, a quiche dish, and there was left over extra dough of the pastry. So I thought of  baking some savoury biscuts out of them. I started adding ingredients, whatever I could lay my hands on. I had some  grated cheddar cheese and some seasonings  but didn’t wanted regular round shapes,  so I cut them into strips and twisted them and  voila came up with some yum, munching time snacks. My kiddo loved it and demanded  that I should make these cheesy twists  for his friends as it tasted like pizza flavoured twists and who doesn’t likes pizza flavour.. specially kids. And it was a super hit with his friends too. Since then I have been baking these very often, and the good thing is these twists tastes awesome with tea or coffee or with some hot soups as soup sticks, and you can even serve them with dips in your parties. Always a hit. Do try and enjoy with your  family and friends.

RECIPE FOR CHEESY TWISTS:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups – Refined flour (Maida)
  • 4 tbsp – Milk
  • 4 tbsp – Oil
  • 4 tbsp – Melted Butter
  • ½ cup – Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 tsp – Chilly flakes
  • 1 tsp – Oregano
  • 1 tsp – Garlic powder or grated fresh garlic
  • Water to knead the dough
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and sprinkle water sparingly and make a soft dough, do not over knead as the dough will become hard as a result.
  2. Now, transfer the dough  to a well floured surface and roll out into a rectangle and cut strips of finger length or a size of your choice.
  3. Hold each strips and give them a good twist to get the twisted design; place them on a pre greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes at 180 degrees Celcius or till done..
  4. You can tell that its baked when they are golden.
  5. Take them out and let them rest on the baking tray for a few seconds; then cool them by transferring them on a wire rack.
  6. When cooled store them in an airtight jar. Enjoy your cheesy twists with your tea or soups or enjoy them as it is. Happy munching.

Note:

  • Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 180 degrees Celcius before baking.
  • Every oven temperature is different so please keep an eye on the cheesy twists as it has got cheese inside, it can burn quite fast; mine were done in 20 minutes , you check according to your oven heating.
  • Do not over knead the dough.  Knead with light hands till the dough is well formed into a soft dough, as over kneading will make the end product hard and not flaky.
